Friends of the Clinton Township Public Library

About the

The Friends of the Clinton Township Public Library was established in 1987 to promote and aid the library and its programs. To raise money, the Friends hold used book sales.  The Friends generally meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 4 pm in the library's meeting room. Anyone interested in supporting the library is welcome and invited to become a Friend of the Library.

Membership is $5.00 per year for an individual/couple/family; or a $100 lifetime payment. This can be dropped off at the library, attention Friends of CTPL.

Book Sales

The Friends of the Clinton Township Public Library are eager to present the 2022 Fall Festival Book Sales! So many wonderful books have been donated in the past few years.  We couldn’t hold our sales without the generous support of the Clinton Community.  Again this year, two separate sales will be taking place at the Clinton Library (100 Brown Street, one block north of the stoplight at U.S. 12 in town). The sale hours will be 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, September 22, 23, and 24.  Stop by Thursday for the best selection and to avoid the crowds.

Our regular (and always very popular) book sale will be held in the lower level of the library offering well over 10,000 categorized books on nearly every topic for book lovers of all ages.  This year we’ll feature Christmas and Do Your Christmas Shopping Early!  We have a huge selection of jigsaw puzzles, as well as a great selection of newer fiction and mystery books.  The children’s section is well stocked and beautifully organized – featuring Winter Holidays.  Prices are amazing!  Most hard cover and trade size soft cover books are $1; pocket paperbacks are 50¢; most children’s books are 25¢.

The second sale, a Rare and Vintage Sale, will be a must for all book lovers, collectors and dealers.  This sale, held in the first floor meeting room, will feature the many interesting, rare and/or vintage books that have been donated in the past three years.  Featured categories include:

Classics (Art, Literature & Music)

Genealogy

Michigan

Reference & Education

Vintage Children’s Books

Homemaking

Vintage Fiction

Biography

History (including many military books)

Religion

Automotive/Woodworking/Architecture

Technical (including many Audels Guides)

Science & Outdoors

Lots of Miscellaneous!

These books are specially priced, but will be much less expensive than you would find them at online sites (typically only 15-30% of asked prices).  A list of some of the more interesting books can be seen here.

Through the Fall Festival, the library showcase is featuring some of the rarer and noteworthy books (these books are for sale!)  Be sure to check out the display while you’re at the library.

Both sales are accessible to all.  For information: 517-456-4141 or www.clintontownshiplibrary.org

Book Donations

Book donations are welcomed.

  1. Donations of gently used books are needed and appreciated.  They are the lifeblood of our monthly book sales!  Donations may be dropped off when the library is open. Just bring them to the front desk or ask the staff for a cart (we try to leave an empty cart on the elevator.) Library hours are Monday - Thursday 11 am to 7 pm, Friday 11 am - 6 pm and Saturday 10 am - 2 pm.  If you have questions about donating books, the library's phone number is 517-456-4141.

Note:  Please do not leave donations outside the front door.  Wet or weather damaged books make us cry!

Please do not put donations in the library drop box.  The library drop box is strictly for library book    returns.

  2.  Donations are limited to four (4) boxes or six (6) paper grocery bags per drop off.

Note: Banker or copy paper size boxes are recommended.  Please do not fill huge boxes that cannot be lifted by an average 70 year old woman.

  3. We cannot accept

           Encyclopedia sets

           Old textbooks

           Magazines

The Friends and CTPL staff greatly appreciate your generous donations of gently used books and puzzles.
