Library millage facts
Election Day is
May 5, 2026
A "Yes" vote means more
funding for the library.
A "No" vote means no new funding for the library.
Shall the property owners in the Township of Clinton pay 1 mill ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) for the next 10 years to the Clinton Township Public Library?
All numbers are based on the 2025 Fiscal Year:
Clinton Library receives $152,763
Blissfield (Schultz-Holmes) Library receives $497,924
Tecumseh Library receives $1,134,720
Manchester Library receives $637,037
If passed, CTPL's annual revenue will increase to approximately $314,000.
The average Township of Clinton homeowner will see a tax increase of $96-130 per year.
That comes out to approximately $10/month. Less than most streaming services!
Due to rising operational costs, the funds will support daily library operations, including but not limited to programming, books, wages, and other essential services.
The perpetual millage voted on in 1936 is no longer enough to sustain the library's day-to-day needs.
If the levy passes, property owners will see a tax increase beginning December 2026.
If passed, the levy in the amount of 1 mill will remain in effect until 2035.
If passed, the library would receive an additional $161,000 (approximately) in the first year.
Because minimum wage in the state of Michigan will be $15/hour beginning January 1, 2027, wages will be increasing.
In the approved budget for the 2026/2027 Fiscal Year
(not including capital projects)
Wages - 58%
Required maintenance and upkeep - 8%
Professional Services (accounting software, lawyer fees, etc.) - 7%
Books - 6%
Utilities - 6%
All other expenses make up less than 15%.
If alternate funding is not provided, the Clinton Township Public Library will be forced to cut back on its services including but not limited to books, hours, programming and other essential services.
